This amiable, soft-spoken good ol' boy from tiny Bee Cave, Texas loves barbeque, guns, and higher education. Natural curiosity, ten years as a roughneck in the west Texas oilfields, and eleven hard science PhDs have trained him to design, build and repair a variety of deadly contraptions.

Uhm... Camping is what the Engineer is for... Unless you're planning to go offensive and distract the opposing team by building sentries in strategic places... But a sentry is neccassary in 2fort or Dustbowl unless you want your team to lose. You have OBVIOUSLY been dominated by engineers one too many times.

You're right about one thing...the engineer is for defense purposes and doesn't really have many offensive capabilities. But, it's HOW the community decides to use them. I've won many a game without my team spawning a single sentry and the opposing team full of them. A sentry is only necessary if you lack the ability to play the game well. My comment must have hit a nerve, as you OBVIOUSLY must have been one of these annoying introverts I am making fun of.

It's not really the Engineer you must be talking about, it's the player's skill with the engineer.Yes, a team of sentries can fail against a team without sentries BUT a team of sentries can destroy a team of non-sentries.Depends ENTIRELY on the skill level of the player and how they place the class. It's quite OBVIOUS you haven't been playing TF2 for very long to see how Engineers are actualy played in a game full of people actually playing the game, not screwing around.

you know, just becouse they use a sentry dose not mean they suck. some people need the achivment for 10 kills, others just like to use them. And who dosent love a powerfull wepion? and you cant just leave a sentry on its own, have to much sure it stays up!

A few things: 1) I play on PS3 ("achivments" as you call them mean nothing to me.) 2) I don't care if you like to use them, just don't ABUSE them. (i.e. pick a different class for once in your life.) 3) I'm all for powerful weapons, but I'm not quite sure what a "powerfull wepion" does...
If a player using an engineer had any real skill (or balls) they would leave their precious sentry. The people who abuse engineers are also the dildos who use exploits in the game's design.

My point was: It all depends on the skill of the player, it may have looked like a contradiction to someone of your IQ or understanding of the game. If you used your head you would have saw that. But you didn't!

Why should there be a "way" for a class to be played? If you can win a game by using a classes advantages, isn't that the point? Each class has a specialty, but that does not make it its sole purpose or its only use.

Here we go again. You said I was blinded by your spelling errors. But I mention the system I play on and your inner fanboy completely takes you over! Also, "skill" as you say, can be argued, it doesn't make a point. A person who despises FPS games can say skill means "Hold the trigger button until everything around you is dead." You're just one of those douchebags that has a preconceived notion that the worst system with the worst players is the one they didn't buy.
I could do this all day.
